How To Guide To Heaven

This weekend we celebrate Resurrection Sunday, or Easter, to commemorate Jesus’ resurrection from the dead three days after His crucifixion. Why did Jesus come to earth, live a perfect sinless life, allow Himself to be crucified on a Roman cross, and rise from the dead?

Jesus did this because He loved us so much and He wanted to provide a way for people's sins to be forgiven (1 John 4:10). And guess what, all people “have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 ESV). Jesus’ death on the cross was a sacrifice offered for all time for sins (Hebrews 10:12). His resurrection shows He defeated death, Hell, and the grave. And He provides the gift of salvation for everyone, if they are willing to accept it.

Romans 6:23 (ESV) explains that “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The death spoken of here is an eternity in Hell—a place of darkness and torment. But if we believe that Jesus’ sacrifice was sufficient payment for our sins, ask Jesus’ to forgive us, and repent from our sins making Him Lord of our life then He is faithful to forgive and save us.

That gift of salvation comes through faith in Christ Jesus and results in a life lived for God and, after one’s time here on earth, an eternity in Heaven with God. Heaven will be a magnificent place as described in Revelation. But it is beyond the ability of a finite man to describe it. As 1 Corinthians 2:9 (ESV) says, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.” Heaven will be unimaginable! Praise Christ Jesus Heaven is in the believer’s future, not Hell.
